Experience Audio Excellence with Bowers and Wilkins Speakers
Bowers and Wilkins (B&W) has been a trusted name in high-fidelity audio speakers for over 50 years. Starting with the first hand-built units in the back of an electrical shop in West Sussex, this English manufacturer has always been known for producing speakers with accurate, natural sound, the kind that audio enthusiasts cherish as it lets them enjoy the music just the way it was recorded, adding or subtracting nothing.
Today the company produces a full line of speakers suitable for any type of music, from the delicate instruments or classical to belting out the low bass of rap tunes, not to mention delivering the explosive dynamics of today’s powerful movie soundtracks.
Once known just for their home audio speakers, B&W has taken their audio engineering excellence to new lines in headphones, wireless speakers, and architectural speakers for custom home theaters and whole-home audio. If you happen to drive specific models of Volvo, BMW, Maserati, or McLaren automobiles, you can enjoy audiophile-level B&W sound quality on the road too.
But this blog is about Bowers and Wilkins speakers for your Minneapolis home audio system. Although once you experience these, you may just need to have the B&W sound in your next car or boat too! Ready to learn more? Keep reading for an overview of B&W speaker lines for your home.

HOME AUDIO
For the most affordable way to get into B&W audio quality, the 600 Series is the ticket to entry. This line features two bookshelf models, two subwoofers, a center channel for home theater and TV, and the 603 tower. All the speakers feature B&W’s special Continuum Cone bass/midrange drivers and decoupled dome aluminum tweeters, which include innovations from the highest end Nautilus series. The 600 Series provides big sound but doesn’t take up significant space with speakers that are easy to place in smaller rooms. Like all B&W home audio speakers, they are very musical, meaning that they play equally well with thundering movie soundtracks or with classic tunes from Diana Krall. This series can be mixed and matched for a home theater or two-channel setup. With elegant black or white cabinet finishes, they fit with both modern and traditional decors.
Moving up in sophistication – both visually and aurally – is the 700 series. The flagship models of this range, the 702 S2 tower and the 705 S2 stand-mount, feature the separate top-mounted tweeter enclosure that originated on the Nautilus line and is a distinguishing feature of B&W. This line has three stand-mount models and three towers that are all capable of filling larger rooms with incredible audio. Two center channel models bring dialog clarity and perfect imaging to movies and multichannel soundtracks, and the DB4S is the matching subwoofer for this line delivering the ultra-low-end punch, with a 1000-watt digital amplifier powering the 10-inch cone. The finishes come in beautiful gloss black, satin white, and Rosenut wood, as these speakers are meant to be seen as well as heard. As with most B&W speakers, this line is equally at home with a stereo setup or in a multichannel home theater or media room.
At the pinnacle of Bowers and Wilkins home audio sits the 800 Series Diamond line and the Nautilus. The Nautilus is B&W’s statement speaker, a $60,000 work of art that incorporates everything the company knows about sound reproduction. Like many top-level products from the best companies, the Nautilus also serves to drive B&W technology into its other lines. The 800 Series is the primary beneficiary of that. B&W calls the 800 Series simply “the world’s finest loudspeakers.” The 800 Series is simply more of everything B&W. More power, more finesse, and even greater aesthetic beauty. These are the speakers to have in a top-end home theater or listening room, coupled with the right electronics to ensure that they deliver everything they are capable of.
CUSTOM INSTALL SPEAKERS – HOME THEATER AND OUTDOOR
If you like audiophile-quality sound that is heard but not seen, Bowers and Wilkins has that covered as well. For custom theaters, B&W’s CT700 and CT800 speakers deliver the reference-quality power and clarity of freestanding speakers in enclosures that can be custom installed to disappear in the room. For other applications like whole home audio, B&W has three series – Flexible, Performance, and Reference – that bring their legendary sound quality to every room while blending seamlessly into the décor. There are two and three-way in-wall and in-ceiling models that can be mixed and matched to deliver enveloping sound in any space in your home, from the smallest to the largest.
As we ease into spring in Minnesota, you can take that same audio outdoors too. Models like the AM-1 speaker can mount horizontally or vertically on a wall or eave and are designed to shrug off water and not fade in the sun. And if you enjoy the pleasures of summer boating in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, take B&W sound with you – Marine 6 and 8 speakers are completely waterproof!
